Frosterley Marble Tumblestone from Tumbled Stones

Frosterley Marble Tumblestone

A tactile Frosterley Marble tumbled stone.

Frosterley Marble - The Vatican Stone
Ok, name explanation first! This is a black limestone with fossil inclusions (they're stag horn coral), which comes from the Rogerley Quarry in Frosterley in County Durham, UK. The tag of 'marble' was placed on it, probably in the same way 'oh, it's a Jasper' is used as a cover-all for an array of stones ;) It's second, grander title of the Vatican Stone is a nod to its popularity with Middle Ages masons in their work on buildings such as Durham Cathedral and, most notably, the Vatican. In my mind it's Foster-ley Marble, as its a caring companion, similar to a foster parent - encouraging self-preservation, common sense, and aiding a balanced perspective. It is a protective stone, fostering inner peace, supporting continuity and resurrection/transformation.
